Located a few kilometres east of the Hay township in NSW, the Hay Solar Farm developed by CleanPeak Energy was completed in September 2025. The proposed 7.5MW photovoltaic electricity generating system is comprised of over 10,000 solar panels running north to south across the paddock, ground-mounted on a single axis tracking system to follow the daily east-west movement of the sun.
In November 2025, a 20Mwh BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) was commissioned on site, allowing for the storage of any excess electricity generated during the day.
The solar farm layout has been carefully designed to protect the environmental aspects of the site, minimise the removal of native vegetation and avoid areas of cultural sensitivity.
The Hay Solar Farm is connected to the surrounding distribution network, and is expected to supply 15GWh of clean energy annually. That’s enough clean energy to avoid over 10,000 tonnes of CO2 being emitted into the atmosphere every year.
The clean energy generated by this in-front-of-the-meter solar asset each year will be equivalent to taking 2,000 fuel-burning cars off the road, or powering 3,000 average Australian homes.
The clean energy generated at the Hay Solar Farm will help power Sydney’s iconic Barangaroo Precinct, advancing its net-zero agenda.

Construction on the Hay Solar Farm is completed. Over 12,000 photovoltaic panels are installed across the site.
